Philippe Danon, 23 years old, made his return to Montreal, his place of birth, 5 years ago. Growing up in Florida were his first interactions in the food & beverage industry started at the age of 15. Eventually arriving as a backwaiter at Michael’s on East, Philippe has his first real encounters with fine dinning and wine being that Michael’s on East has over 20 years of Wine Spectator Award of Excellence.
Philippe moves to Montreal, leaving behind the beach, to continue his education at Concordia’s John Molson School of Business. Finding a way to sustain his education Philippe start’s working at Le Coureur Des Bois, Bistro culinaire in Beloeil were the beginning of his professional wine career starts, leaving behind his previous education path.
‘’Ian Purtell his Restauration Director gave him the passion of wine. Philippe shortly thereafter met the likes of Jean-Simon Ranger et Hugo Duchesne, both, who inspired him to go through the rigorous Court of Master Sommelier training and opened him to our world of Sommellerie in Quebec.
Certified Sommelier (2015) with the Court of Master Sommeliers level 1 and 2, Philippe has recently (2017) earned his WSET 3 Advanced certificate at ITHQ, and is currently in the process of finishing his WSET Diploma at the Independent Wine Education Guild of Toronto. Philippe is aswell in preparation for his Advanced Exam through the Court of Master Sommeliers level 3.
